shake shake hello?!You & The Atom BombSink & Stove Records Released: 3rd July 2006 Catalogue Number: SASR#23
Following the release in August 2005 of their debut 7” - the double A-side ‘Velocipedes’/’Hotel Terminus’ - Sink & Stove Records are proud to present a 7-song-strong mini-album from Bristol’s, no dare-we-say Britain’s bright young hopes You And The Atom Bomb. If the single was enough to cause Steve Lamacq’s, Rob Da Bank’s, Drowned In Sound’s and Artrocker’s collective ears to prick up, then the emergence of ‘Shake Shake Hello?!’ is sure to cause (tidal) waves of interest in this exciting, accessible but highly original 4-piece band. Imagine savvy post-punk dynamics and math-rock time changes fused with gleeful 60s bubblegum melodies and boy-girl dual vocals and some of the best lyrics about sealife ever. Well imagine no more. Intuitive pop sense is mixed with sophisticated musical knowledge. And the band members are only in their early twenties, the clever bastards… You & The Atom Bomb have shared stages The Playwrights, Controller.Controller, The Victorian English Gentlemens Club, New Rhodes and Forward Russia. A UK tour is planned for June leading up to the ‘Mudwig Bahnoff’ / ‘Transmissions’ double A-side download single which will hit your ipods on Monday June 26th. You & The Atom Bomb are Suzi (Vocals/Keys), Jean-Marc (Vocals/Bass), Brian (Guitars) and Ieuan (Drums). "Coming like Reggie and the Full Effect fronted by Siouxie Sioux, You And The Atom Bomb pack more energy and intelligence into two songs than many acts manage across an entire album. A flame of bouncy creativity burns as brightly as that owned by The Coral. Where the supernatural scousers went, You And The Atom Bomb could well follow, such is the potential here." Drowned In Sound "Scratchy, urgent and very, very dizzy.” Organ "Mini rock-operas with boy-girl swapsee attacking vox and barking choruses. Synth and guitar make a noise like an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical orchestra gone bezerk." Artrocker "An exhilarating ride." Shake Your Fist "Stunning, we here love it and so will you and your hi-fi." Losing Today "Known for their urgent, mercurial live shows, referencing several genres but pledging allegiance to none, You & The Atom Bomb flaunt dizzying time signatures and inexpedient dances, despatching mini rock-operas with boy-girl swapsee attacking vox and barking choruses. They fit the bill." The Fly 1. what hither 2. mudwig banhoff 3. marvellous transmissions of star craft 4. behold, coelacanth 5. the mathemagician (systole/diastole) 6. zapgeist alchemics 7. still wake |
